Nagpur, March 14: Devendra Fadnavis said there is no shortage of LPG in India and accused the Indian National Congress of misleading people by spreading confusion about fuel availability.
Speaking to reporters in Nagpur, the Maharashtra Chief Minister said citizens should not panic or stand in long queues for LPG cylinders.
Fadnavis Accuses Congress of Spreading Confusion
Fadnavis stated that both the central government and energy companies have clarified that there is no shortage of LPG in the country.
However, he alleged that Congress leaders are deliberately spreading misinformation. According to him, this has caused unnecessary panic among citizens.
The Chief Minister urged the opposition to stop misleading people and advised the public not to believe rumours about LPG shortages.
Government Assures Adequate Fuel Supply
Meanwhile, the Union government also reassured citizens about the availability of fuel. Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said the country has sufficient crude oil supplies.
During an inter-ministerial briefing, Sujata Sharma confirmed that Indian refineries are operating at full capacity.
She said there have been no reports of fuel shortages at retail outlets across the country.
Panic Booking of LPG Cylinders Rising
However, Sharma noted that LPG bookings have increased significantly due to panic among consumers.
She revealed that bookings recently increased from around 7.5–7.6 million to nearly 8.8 million, indicating panic-driven demand.
Therefore, the government urged citizens to avoid unnecessary bookings.
Appeal to Citizens
Officials advised consumers to book LPG cylinders only when required. According to the ministry, responsible booking will help ensure smooth supply for everyone.
Authorities also continue to monitor the situation closely, especially amid global energy supply concerns triggered by tensions in West Asia.
