New Delhi, March 17, 2026: India continues to strengthen its energy supply as the LPG tanker Nanda Devi reaches Vadinar Port in Gujarat today. The vessel carries around 46,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
This arrival follows the successful docking of LPG carrier Shivalik. Both shipments support India during ongoing global energy disruptions caused by tensions in West Asia.
Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz
Authorities ensured the tanker crossed the Strait of Hormuz safely. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Shipping Corporation of India led the operation. The Indian Navy and Iranian Navy provided security support.
The Chief Officer confirmed the successful transit. He thanked all teams involved in the mission.
“We crossed the Strait of Hormuz safely. The vessel now moves toward Gujarat. This LPG cargo will support India during the global crisis,” he said.
Strengthening India’s LPG Supply
The Nanda Devi shipment will boost LPG availability across the country. It arrives at a time when global fuel supply faces uncertainty.
Earlier, LPG carrier Shivalik reached Mundra Port with about 40,000 metric tonnes of LPG. Authorities will unload:
- 20,000 MT at Mundra
- The remaining supply at Mangalore
These shipments show India’s strong planning to secure fuel resources.
Additional Maritime Updates
Another Indian-flagged vessel, Jag Laadki, is heading toward India. It carries around 81,000 tonnes of Murban crude oil from the UAE.
Officials confirmed that:
- All Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf remain safe
- No incidents occurred in the last 24 hours
- 22 Indian-flagged vessels operate in the region
- 611 seafarers are currently onboard
Focus on Energy Security
India continues to manage fuel supply through coordinated maritime efforts. Authorities monitor global developments closely. These shipments help maintain steady LPG distribution across households and industries.
