New Delhi, March 17, 2026: India strongly condemned Pakistan over the deadly airstrike in Kabul that targeted a hospital and killed hundreds of civilians. The government described the attack as “cowardly and unconscionable” and demanded accountability.
India Slams Pakistan Over Kabul Hospital Strike
The Ministry of External Affairs, through spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, issued a sharp statement condemning the strike on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital.
Moreover, India called the attack a deliberate act of violence against civilians.
“This is a cowardly and unconscionable act. Pakistan is trying to present a massacre as a military operation,” the statement said.

Attack Kills Hundreds, Injures Many
Meanwhile, Afghan authorities reported heavy casualties after the airstrike in Kabul.
According to officials:
- Around 400 people lost their lives
- Nearly 250 people suffered injuries
- Victims included patients and hospital staff
In addition, the explosion caused massive destruction to the hospital and nearby buildings.
India Raises Concern Over Sovereignty Violation
Furthermore, India described the attack as a direct assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty. It warned that such actions threaten regional peace and stability.
India also pointed out Pakistan’s repeated pattern of cross-border aggression.
Strike During Ramadan Draws Strong Reaction
Notably, the attack took place during the holy month of Ramadan. India highlighted this aspect and called the act even more unacceptable.
“There is no faith, law, or morality that justifies targeting a hospital and its patients,” the statement added.
Pakistan Denies Targeting Civilian Facility
However, Pakistan rejected the allegations. Officials claimed that their forces targeted Taliban-linked infrastructure in Kabul and Nangarhar.
They stated that:
- The strikes hit ammunition and logistics sites
- Operations avoided civilian harm
- The action was precise and controlled
Rising Tensions and Retaliation Warnings
At the same time, tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to escalate. Reports suggest cross-border strikes and growing instability.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid warned of retaliation and said diplomatic options have ended.
India Extends Support to Afghanistan
Finally, India expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan. It extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
India also reaffirmed its strong support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
