Tensions in the Middle East escalated further as joint operations by the United States and Israel continued targeting Iran’s strategic missile infrastructure, while Iran responded with a fresh wave of retaliatory strikes under “Operation True Promise 4.”
US–Israel Intensify Attacks on Iran’s Military Infrastructure
According to reports and analysis by the Institute for the Study of War, combined forces have significantly escalated attacks on Iran’s missile launchers, storage facilities, and production units. The strikes are aimed at weakening Iran’s defense and offensive capabilities amid the ongoing conflict.
Key targets reportedly include:
- The 7th Artesh Tactical Airbase in Shiraz
- An Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) unit in Hamedan
- IRGC headquarters near Bonab in East Azerbaijan Province
Satellite imagery also suggests heavy damage to naval and air infrastructure at the IRGC’s 4th Sarallah Naval District in Bushehr, a strategically vital area overseeing parts of the Persian Gulf, including energy-rich zones.
High-Value Military Target Eliminated
In a significant development, the Israel Defense Forces announced the killing of senior IRGC Navy commander Alireza Tangsiri in Bandar Abbas. This move marks a major blow to Iran’s naval command structure and signals the deepening intensity of the conflict.
Iran Responds with ‘Wave 83’ Counter Strike
In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched Wave 83 of its ongoing military campaign, targeting key American and Israeli assets across the region.
According to IRGC statements, the strikes involved missiles and drones and hit multiple strategic locations, including:
- Oil storage facilities and depots in Ashdod
- Military sites in Modi’in
- A US military information exchange center
Iran also claimed strikes on American bases such as:
- Al-Dhafra Air Base
- Ali Al-Salem Air Base
- Sheikh Isa Air Base
These attacks reportedly targeted fuel reserves, aircraft maintenance units, and missile defense systems, including Patriot system infrastructure.
Diplomatic Signals Amid Escalation
Amid the ongoing hostilities, Donald Trump indicated a possible pause in operations, stating that Iran had requested a seven-day halt in strikes. However, the US extended this period to ten days, until April 6, even as military actions continue on the ground.
The continued exchange of strikes between US–Israel forces and Iran highlights a dangerous escalation with regional and global implications. With both sides targeting critical military and energy infrastructure, the situation remains volatile, raising concerns about a broader conflict in the Middle East.
