Mathura, April 13, 2026:
The death toll in the tragic boat accident in Mathura has risen to 14 after authorities recovered another body from the Yamuna River on Monday. Officials confirmed that rescue teams continue their search for the remaining missing persons.
Latest Recovery Increases Death Count
Police recovered the body of a woman from Swami Ghat after local residents alerted authorities. Officials later identified her as Monika after confirming details with her family.
So far, teams have recovered four bodies out of the six people reported missing after the accident. Rescue teams are still searching for the remaining two individuals.
Ongoing Rescue Operations
Authorities have deployed multiple agencies to carry out intensive search operations, including:
- National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)
- State Disaster Response Force (SDRF)
- Flood Police and Fire Brigade teams
- Local divers
Officials have divided the river stretch into sections to speed up the search process.

Rescue teams recovered three bodies over the past few days:
- Dimpy and Rishabh Sharma on Sunday
- Manik Tandon on Saturday
Authorities continue to scan the river thoroughly to locate the remaining missing persons.
Details of the Accident
The accident took place on April 10 near Keshi Ghat in Mathura when a boat carrying around 25–27 passengers collided with a pontoon bridge on the Yamuna River.
Ten people died on the day of the incident, and the toll has now increased as search operations continue.
Safety Measures Tightened in Ayodhya
In response to the tragedy, authorities in Ayodhya have increased safety measures at river ghats. Officials have installed barricades to prevent devotees from entering deep waters and to avoid similar incidents.
