Nitish Kumar to Take Oath for the 10th Time on November 20
Nitish Kumar will take oath as Bihar Chief Minister for the 10th time on Thursday, November 20. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the ceremony. The new NDA government will include JD(U), BJP, LJP (RV), HAM-S, and RLM.
Historic Political Moment in Bihar
PATNA: JD(U) president Nitish Kumar will return as chief minister for the 10th time. A senior JD(U) leader confirmed this development to TOI on Sunday.
Modi is expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony. The new cabinet may also include a deputy chief minister.
Major Leaders to Attend the Event
A senior BJP leader said the ceremony will take place at the sprawling Gandhi Maidan. Union home minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and UP CM Yogi Adityanath will attend. Chief ministers of other NDA-ruled states will also be present.
Gandhi Maidan Closed for Preparations
State administration officials began large-scale preparations on Sunday.
The Patna district administration announced a complete public ban at Gandhi Maidan from November 17 to 20.
Officials said the Maidan will remain closed for four days to prepare for the oath-taking ceremony.
Cabinet Berth Formula Finalised
Sources said the NDA allies have finalised the formula for cabinet berths.
Along with JD(U) and BJP, LJP (RV), HAM-S, and RLM will join the new government.
LJP (RV) may get three cabinet seats. HAM-S and RLM may get one each.
A senior BJP leader said the BJP will have up to 16 ministers, while JD(U) may have 14.
Outgoing Government’s Final Cabinet Meeting
The cabinet secretariat department issued a notice on Sunday.
The outgoing government will hold its final cabinet meeting at 11:30 am on Monday.
After the meeting, Nitish and senior ministers will drive to Raj Bhavan.
Nitish will submit his resignation and request the governor to dissolve the assembly.
JD(U) and NDA Legislature Meetings
After resigning, Nitish will meet newly elected JD(U) legislators.
He will be formally elected leader of the JD(U) legislature party.
The BJP will also hold a meeting of its newly elected legislators in Patna on Tuesday.
Later, all NDA legislators will attend a joint meeting.
Nitish will then be formally elected leader of the NDA legislature party.
After that, leaders of all five NDA allies will accompany him to Raj Bhavan to stake claim to form the government.
Election Process Completed
Chief electoral officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal handed the list of 243 newly elected MLAs to governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Sunday.
The Election Commission lifted the model code of conduct later that evening.
Key NDA Leaders Meet Nitish
Activity continued at Nitish’s official residence for the second day.
Union minister Nityanand Rai, outgoing deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, and RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha met Nitish to discuss government formation.
Kushwaha’s wife Snehlata, who won from Sasaram, may get a cabinet berth.
Kushwaha and Vijay Sinha later left for Delhi to meet senior BJP leaders.
On Sunday night, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha met Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi.
They discussed issues related to the formation of the new state government.
