Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu | April 21, 2026
Tamil Nadu minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi intensified his campaign in the Thiruverumbur constituency on Tuesday. On the final day of electioneering, he focused on the Thuvakudi region.
Representing the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), he carried out door-to-door outreach. During the interactions, he urged residents to support the party’s “Rising Sun” symbol. At the same time, he highlighted the government’s development work.
Focused Ground Campaign in Thuvakudi
Throughout the day, the minister met voters across several localities. In addition, he spoke about welfare schemes and infrastructure improvements. Residents gathered in good numbers, showing strong interest in the campaign.
Moreover, party workers and supporters actively participated in the outreach. As a result, the campaign created visible momentum in the area. Instead of large rallies, the focus remained on direct engagement with voters.
Key issues such as employment, education, and development were discussed. Therefore, the campaign maintained a strong connection with grassroots concerns.
Alliance Partners Show United Support
Meanwhile, alliance partners joined the campaign efforts. These included the Indian National Congress, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, and the Communist Party of India.
Their participation reflected unity within the alliance. Additionally, the joint effort aimed to strengthen voter outreach. Political observers believe such coordination can influence election results, especially in close contests.
MK Stalin Leads Parallel Campaign in Chennai
At the same time, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin conducted a campaign in Chennai. He participated in a morning walk in Kannagi Nagar.
During the visit, he interacted with residents and received strong public support. Furthermore, large crowds gathered to meet him. He used the opportunity to highlight government achievements and welfare initiatives.
Criticism Over Delimitation Proposal
However, Stalin also criticized the central government. He raised concerns over the proposed delimitation exercise. According to him, the move could negatively impact progressive states like Tamil Nadu.
Referring to the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, he reiterated his opposition. Earlier, he had led protests against the proposal. Consequently, the issue has become a major political topic in the state.
Polling Date and Key Contest
Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 23. Subsequently, vote counting will take place on May 4.
The main contest is between the DMK-led alliance and the opposition. The opposition includes the AIADMK led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami. As expected, both sides are making strong efforts to secure voter support.
With campaigning now over, attention shifts to polling day. Overall, leaders have made their final appeals to voters. The results will determine the political direction of Tamil Nadu for the next five years.
