Indian Army Demonstrates Advanced Mechanised Warfare Capabilities in Major Military Drill
Pune/New Delhi, March 19: The Indian Army successfully conducted Exercise Amogh Jwala, highlighting its advanced, technology-driven warfighting capabilities in a modern battlefield environment.
The large-scale military exercise took place at the Babina Field Firing Ranges from March 6 to March 18 under the Southern Command.
Focus on Modern Multi-Domain Warfare
The exercise focused on testing new operational strategies and battlefield technologies. It showcased how different combat elements can work together in a multi-domain environment.
The drill included the coordinated use of:
- Attack helicopters
- Fighter aircraft
- Unmanned aerial systems (drones)
- Counter-drone systems
- Advanced communication networks
These elements worked together under a strong command and control system to ensure real-time decision-making.
High-Tech Combat and Real-Time Surveillance
The exercise demonstrated high-speed mechanised operations supported by modern technologies. Troops used drone-based surveillance to identify and strike targets with precision.
Advanced systems improved battlefield awareness and helped commanders take faster decisions. Secure communication networks also played a key role in coordinating operations.
Leadership Highlights Importance of Technology and Jointness
Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, reviewed the exercise and praised the troops.
He stressed the importance of:

- Joint operations across forces
- Coordination between land, air, cyber, and space domains
He stated that such integration is essential to build a future-ready and combat-capable force.
Integration of Advanced Warfare Systems
The drill highlighted the combined use of:
- Electronic Warfare (EW)
- Air Defence (AD)
- Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR)
- Night-fighting capabilities

Earlier, the Indian Army also organised the ‘Jaipur Soldierathon’ to honour soldiers. The event saw participation from thousands, including injured veterans who showed strong spirit and determination.
