Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his arrival in the state. He said the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor would mark a new phase of development for Uttarakhand.
Dhami Highlights Development Impact
In a post on X, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the Prime Minister as a “development icon and karma yogi”. He stated that the leadership of Narendra Modi has strengthened India’s global standing and inspired citizens across the country.
He welcomed the Prime Minister to Uttarakhand and said the state would benefit from major infrastructure developments under his leadership.
Corridor to Boost Connectivity
The chief minister said the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor would improve connectivity and support economic growth in the region. He noted that the project would enhance travel and create new opportunities for development.
According to him, the inauguration of the corridor signals the beginning of a new phase of connectivity and progress in Uttarakhand.
PM Modi’s Visit Schedule
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. As part of his schedule, he will review the wildlife corridor in Saharanpur built along the elevated section of the expressway.
He will also visit the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun to offer prayers. Later, he will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public event and address a gathering.
Details of the Economic Corridor
The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor stretches 213 kilometres and connects Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Authorities developed the six-lane access-controlled expressway at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore.
The project will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to about two-and-a-half hours. It is designed to improve road connectivity and ensure faster movement between key cities.
Infrastructure and Travel Benefits
The corridor includes several features to support smooth travel. It has interchanges, bridges, and advanced traffic systems to improve safety and efficiency.
Officials stated that the project will strengthen regional connectivity and support economic activities in Uttarakhand and nearby areas.
