Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh on Statehood Day. He praised the state’s rich traditions, cultural heritage, and dedicated citizens.
In a message shared on X, he described Himachal Pradesh as a sacred land. He also highlighted its unique identity rooted in culture and values.
“Heartfelt greetings of Himachal Day to all the residents of Himachal. This sacred land of the gods holds a special identity due to its rich traditions and cultural heritage. I pray for a bright future for all families,” he said.
Emphasis on Culture and Contribution
Moreover, the Prime Minister appreciated the people for their discipline and humility. According to him, their strong sense of duty contributes to national growth.
Additionally, he pointed out that Himachal Pradesh plays a key role in preserving India’s cultural diversity. Its traditions continue to inspire people across the country.
Historical Importance of the Day
Himachal Day is celebrated every year on April 15. On this day in 1948, several princely states came together to form Himachal Pradesh.
Later, the region achieved full statehood on January 25, 1971. Parliament passed the Himachal Pradesh State Act on December 18, 1970. As a result, Himachal Pradesh became the 18th state of India.
Across the state, people celebrate the occasion with cultural programs and parades. These events showcase local music, dance, and traditional art forms.
A Unique Identity of Himachal Pradesh
Often called “Dev Bhoomi”, Himachal Pradesh is known for its spiritual importance. In addition, the state attracts tourists with its natural beauty.

Upcoming Visit to Karnataka
Meanwhile, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Karnataka later on Wednesday. During the visit, he will inaugurate the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira in Mandya district.
He is also expected to address a public gathering on the occasion.
Tribute to a Spiritual Leader
The Mandira honors Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji. He served as the 71st Pontiff of the Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math.
Constructed in traditional Dravidian style, the structure reflects India’s architectural heritage. Furthermore, it serves as both a place of worship and inspiration.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will release the book “Saundarya Lahari and Shiva Mahimna Stotram”. He will release it along with former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda.
