At least 10 Indian Army personnel lost their lives and an equal number sustained injuries after a military vehicle met with a tragic road accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the Khani Top area of Bhaderwah, triggering immediate rescue and relief operations by the Army and local administration.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Expresses Grief
The office of Manoj Sinha confirmed the casualties and expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
“Deeply saddened at the loss of lives of 10 of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate road accident in Doda. We will always remember their outstanding service and supreme sacrifice,” the Lt Governor said in a post on X.
He also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured full support.
Injured Soldiers Airlifted for Treatment
According to officials, 10 injured soldiers were airlifted to a hospital in Udhampur for specialised medical care.
The Lt Governor directed senior officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured personnel and prayed for their speedy recovery.
Rescue Operations Conducted in Difficult Conditions
Soon after the accident, Indian Army units and local authorities rushed to the site. Rescue teams faced challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions while carrying out operations.
The injured personnel were provided first aid at the spot before being evacuated by helicopter.

The tragic incident has drawn condolences from across the country, with leaders and citizens paying tribute to the fallen soldiers for their service and sacrifice in the line of duty.
