Lucknow, June 29: The Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case has taken a significant turn after Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak assured that the state government will ensure a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation into the allegations of financial irregularities involving donations made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Speaking to ANI on Monday, Pathak stated that the government is committed to ensuring that the police administration conducts a thorough investigation and takes strict action against anyone found guilty. His remarks come as eight accused individuals connected to the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case appeared before the Ayodhya court amid heightened security arrangements.
UP Government Promises Fair Investigation
Addressing the media, Brajesh Pathak emphasized that no individual involved in the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case would be spared if found responsible after a proper investigation.
“The government will ensure that the police administration conducts an impartial investigation and takes strict action,” Pathak said, reaffirming the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
His assurance comes at a time when political parties and religious organizations are closely monitoring developments in the high-profile Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case, which has attracted nationwide attention.
Tight Security at Ayodhya Court
Authorities deployed a heavy police force inside and outside the Ayodhya district court to maintain law and order during the scheduled appearance of the accused.
The eight accused had earlier been sent to judicial custody by the remand magistrate and were expected to be produced before the court again on Monday. Officials indicated that the accused may continue in judicial custody while the investigation progresses.
Sources also suggested that future hearings related to the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case could be conducted virtually from jail to ensure security and administrative convenience.
Ayodhya Bar Association to Decide on Legal Representation
An important development in the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case is the decision of the Ayodhya Bar Association regarding legal representation for the accused.
Kalika Prasad Mishra, President of the Ayodhya Bar Association, informed ANI that the Faizabad Advocates’ Association convened a meeting to decide whether lawyers would represent the accused in court.
According to Mishra, the collective opinion of the association would determine whether advocates would defend the accused, oppose them, or officially condemn their alleged actions.
He indicated that many members were inclined toward protecting the interests of the temple while respecting legal procedures.
“The Association’s decision will be paramount,” Mishra stated.
FIR Registered Under Multiple BNS Sections
The Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case formally entered the legal process after an FIR was registered on June 25.
Officials confirmed that the case has been registered under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 306, 316(5), 317(4), 317(5), 61, and 3(5).
The FIR names several individuals, including:
- Anukalp Mishra
- Lavkush Mishra
- Avinash Shukla
- Tinnu Yadav
- Manish Yadav
- Other unidentified persons
Investigating agencies are currently examining financial records, donation receipts, accounting procedures, and other evidence connected to the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case.
Allegations Involving Crores of Rupees
The controversy began after former Samajwadi Party MLA Pawan Pandey alleged that donations worth between Rs 7 crore and Rs 7.5 crore received at the Ram Mandir had been misappropriated.
The allegations quickly sparked widespread political debate, prompting demands for an independent investigation into the management of temple donations.
Although the allegations remain under investigation, the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case has become one of the most discussed political and legal issues in Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities have repeatedly clarified that the investigation is ongoing and no conclusions have yet been reached regarding the allegations.
SIT Constituted to Probe the Matter
Following the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh Government constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 14.
The SIT was formed after the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Trust requested a formal investigation into the allegations concerning temple offerings.
The committee has been tasked with examining:
- Donation collection procedures
- Financial accounting records
- Cash handling mechanisms
- Administrative oversight
- Possible financial irregularities
The SIT continues to gather evidence as part of the ongoing Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case investigation.
Political Reactions Intensify
The Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case has also triggered a political confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition parties.
Opposition leaders have demanded complete transparency regarding temple finances, while BJP leaders have maintained that the investigation will establish the truth based on evidence.
Political observers believe the issue may remain a major topic of discussion in Uttar Pradesh politics until the SIT submits its findings.
Despite political exchanges, government officials have maintained that investigative agencies will function independently without political interference.
Public Interest and Legal Significance
Given the religious significance of the Ram Mandir and the large volume of donations received from devotees across India and abroad, the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case has attracted immense public attention.
Legal experts note that the investigation will not only determine individual accountability but may also lead to stronger financial oversight mechanisms for religious institutions receiving public donations.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation until the investigation reaches its conclusion.
Investigation Continues
The Uttar Pradesh government has reiterated that every aspect of the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case will be investigated thoroughly.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak once again stressed that the government’s priority is a fair investigation based solely on evidence.
As court proceedings continue and the SIT examines financial records, investigators are expected to question additional witnesses and scrutinize transaction details connected to the alleged embezzlement.
The outcome of the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case is likely to have significant legal, administrative, and political implications in the coming weeks. Until then, officials have assured that transparency, due process, and accountability will remain central to the investigation.
