Trump Confirms Military Action
Washington DC, December 26:
The United States carried out a deadly strike against ISIS in northwest Nigeria on Thursday, President Donald Trump said. He confirmed that the operation targeted terrorists accused of killing Christians in the region.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he ordered the strike in his role as Commander-in-Chief. He warned that the US would respond strongly to attacks on innocent civilians.
Strike Targets ISIS Militants
Trump said American forces hit ISIS positions with precision strikes. He added that US intelligence tracked the terrorists before executing the operation. According to him, the action sent a clear warning to extremist groups.
The US President praised the military for carrying out what he described as a flawless mission. He also said the United States would not allow radical Islamic terrorism to grow.
About ISIS-West Africa
The US National Counterterrorism Centre said ISIS-West Africa formed in 2015. The group emerged after Boko Haram pledged allegiance to ISIS. Since then, it has attacked military targets, government facilities, and Christian communities.
Security agencies continue to monitor the group’s activities across the region.
Recent US Operations Against ISIS
Earlier this month, US and Jordanian forces launched airstrikes against ISIS in Syria. The operation hit more than 70 targets using over 100 precision-guided weapons.
The US Central Command described the strikes as an effort to weaken ISIS capabilities. The mission followed a suspected ISIS attack near Palmyra in central Syria.
US Reaffirms Counterterrorism Stand
The latest strike highlights the United States’ continued focus on counterterrorism. Officials said such actions aim to protect civilians and prevent extremist groups from regrouping.
