New Delhi, April 16 (ANI): GAIL (India) Limited has signed an agreement with TUSCO Limited to develop a 600 MW solar power project in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, strengthening its renewable energy expansion plans.
Major Push Towards Renewable Energy
The project will be developed at Jhansi Solar Park. As a result, GAIL will significantly boost its clean energy capacity. Moreover, this move supports India’s growing focus on sustainable energy solutions.
Senior officials from both companies signed the agreement, which highlights strong collaboration in the energy sector.
Battery Storage to Improve Efficiency
Importantly, the project will include a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This system will improve energy reliability and ensure better utilisation of solar power.
Additionally, the battery storage will stabilize supply and reduce fluctuations in power generation. Therefore, industries will receive more consistent energy.
Supporting Industrial Energy Needs
GAIL will use the generated solar power for its petrochemical plant in Pata, Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, the project will support new energy demands from:
- Electrified gas-based equipment
- Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants
As demand increases, this project will help maintain a stable and sustainable energy supply.
Strengthening GAIL’s Green Strategy
According to company officials, this initiative reflects GAIL’s commitment to low-carbon energy. Furthermore, the company aims to reduce dependence on traditional fuels.
This project also expands GAIL’s presence in Uttar Pradesh. In addition, it aligns with India’s broader clean energy mission.
Boost to India’s Clean Energy Transition
India is rapidly shifting towards renewable energy. Therefore, projects like this play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions.
With solar power and battery storage combined, the project will:
- Deliver reliable energy
- Reduce environmental impact
- Support industrial growth
Overall, GAIL’s 600 MW solar project marks a major step toward sustainable development. While energy demand continues to rise, such initiatives will ensure cleaner and more efficient power solutions for the future.
